About me
Pleasure to meet you! My name is Marije van den Oever, also known as Studiomamma.

I studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (diploma 2004). During my studies, I interned with pop photographer Kees Tabak. I love to listen to music and that is one of the reasons why I enjoy to photograph bands and musicians, both on stage and backstage. 😉
I’ve been enjoying cooking all my life. Food should be tasty and suit the moment or occasion it’s served. A good meal can enhance the atmosphere or provide new energy.
For me, fresh ingredients are always the basis of any tasty meal. I have a lot of experience with cooking for groups and for people with special dietary needs and food allergies. You can find an overview of the catering courses I’ve done below.

When you are a musician going to record in a studio, you want to be able to completely focus yourself on the music. I make sure that all non-musical matters are taken care of.
I tailor the menu to people’s food preferences — whether it’s dietary needs or just what someone loves (or doesn’t!) — and to whatever facilities the (studio) kitchen offers. I take care of all the groceries, and all meals are cooked fresh, healthy, and delicious.
On the letter board I indicate daily what the menu is. Serving times are flexible and always discussed in advance.

Besides working in the studio I’d like to capture live performances. For me, the best thing to capture during a live show is the moment a musician is completely absorbed in the music.

How Studiomamma came about
Some companies need years of development before they are established. And some only need one single question 😊 The latter is what happened with Studiomamma.
PsySo’s band members asked me to join them as a ‘studio mamma’ for the recording of their first EP at the beginning of 2018. And what does a Studiomamma do? Cook comfort food, take pictures, enjoy the music 😉 and of course, make sure my ‘children’ have everything they wish for 🧡️ One of the band members asked me whether I wouldn’t want to do this as a job? YES, OF COURSE!
I love it when I can contribute to a creative process ‘from the sidelines’. For example, I like to coach people who are involved in conceptual photography or art projects. I worked backstage at a (school) theatre company for years, responsible for sets, props, and theatre photography.
And whenever I had the chance, you could find me in the kitchen. I’ve never baked as many pancakes as I did back then 😂. You could say I was a bit of a ‘theatre mamma’ back then.
All that old energy came back when PsySo asked me to join them in the studio. I didn’t have to think twice — I was already having fun creating menus and grocery lists. And after a magical first week in the studio, this new business became a reality!
